That was a month ago. It seemed to work a few times but now it will last for maybe 20 minutes and shut off. Today i turn it on and after a few minutes the fireplace went out all by itself. The fireplace does not have an automatic tempature shut off.

The latter kept going out after about half an hour even when the dial showed it as on. This action will start the gas flow into the fireplace logs. I have a heatilator dls 18 gas fireplace installed in 1993. You need to remember to turn it counterclockwise.

The pilot gets great contact with the thermocouple when the fireplace is off and its just the pilot lit but when i turn on the fireplace the pilot light gets a little smaller still a strong blue and does. Gas fireplace shuts off and pilot goes out. After about 20 minutes the flame extinguished. After it goes out and i attempt to relight it the burners will only stay lit for about 5 mins.

Any air in the line should be looooong gone. After doing some research however i now have basic knowledge about gas fires and have successfully fixed my gas fire. If any one component fails then the gas flow will shut off until that failure is rectified. We have a gas fireplace in our living room.

Though i don t worry too much about carbon monoxide poisoning i figured there must be some safety device to shut off the gas valve. Problem started after gas to the house had been turned off for the day. The pilot lamp was blue. Always worked fine for the 8 years we ve been here.
